[1x1] 05:51
[1x1] is supposed to sound like a relationship that slowly becomes completely toxic. The first part of the song is light, dreamy, and atmospheric, and the second half is dark, distorted, and heavy. Listen for the 808s.

_fem_ 07:10
_fem_ came about during a realization that I (Will) feel completely disassociated with the masculine identity yet at the same time reap its benefits. It sounds angry because I was angry when writing it. Cam’s influence is everywhere on this track, and if it weren’t for his extensive editing and reworking it probably would have sounded like it came out of a techno tutorial video.
3.
(for Anna) 07:17
(for Anna)— The first track written on the EP, this song is what allowed us to find our direction. With that being said, it is probably the most meaningful to us. Will wrote it during a pretty sad stage of last year, and because of that the song took over two months to fully finish, as it went through countless stages of development, each of which reflecting his mindset at the time. It had to be perfect. Cam considers this to be his best mix so far as a producer. It’s dedicated to our friend Anna Welden, who we miss dearly.

the color pink was probably the most fun song to write. It features vocals from one of our good friends Raneem Imam, and we just wanted it to bang. This song is written in sections, and is the most fun to play live due to the ferocious kick and distorted bass line. This song also took two months to finish, as there is so much in it.

about

Although nrvvs has technically been together since November of 2016, the color pink ep really did not start coming about until late January of this year. Approaching music from two completely different directions, with Cam being influenced by trap, funk, and soul, and Will being influenced by electronica, alternative, and ambient, we struggled at first to find cohesion. It was not until we both started listening to heavier techno and electronically driven tracks that we found what we were looking for. Cam, with his infatuation with minimal, bass-ridden tracks, and Will’s obsession with melodies and atmospheres were both content when listening to the likes of Stephan Bodzin and Jon Hopkins. We realized we both have a knack for ethereal, electronic composition. From there, the EP really started to take form. With that being said, some of the songs took a really, really long time to finish despite the consistent and natural work flow. Completed in full in about five months, two of the tracks alone took almost four of them (the color pink and (for Anna)), with _fem_ and [1x1] both being completed within a month. The overlying theme of this EP is trying to combine elements of ambience with techno/microhouse— two things that typically do not go hand-in-hand.
